Located just at the border of Georgia and South Carolina, Savannah is one of the largest cities in its state. It was originally colonized as a Province of Georgia in the early 1700s, it grew into a major seaport for the US.

Beaufort, South Carolina

Known as the "Queen of the Carolina Sea Islands", Beaufort is a place where you can soak in the coastal lifestyle.  Beaufort is located right in between Savannah, GA and Charleston, SC and is a smaller, but very culturally rich coastal town.  The city is renowned for its gorgeous location and for its impressive antebellum architecture, which has been impeccably maintained.

Wilmington, North Carolina

Wilmington is North Carolina's most historic city that has also been a great inspiration for American Culture. Originally settled in the 1720's, farmers and planters exploited the area for its natural resources. Moving into the 1800s and 1900s, lumber and shipyards became the primary sources of Wilmington's economy. 

St. Simons, Georgia

St. Simons Island is one of Georgia's Golden Isles along with Sea Island and Jekyll Island. St. Simons is the largest of the Isles with a vast history of Native American, Spanish, Gullah, and Civil War influences. Now, St. Simons has become a resort-driven area gaining popularity to being vacation spots for some of the wealthiest people in the country.

Mobile, Alabama

In this month's "Coastal town of the month, " we wanted to feature a specific region rather than just one city. The Mobile Bay, in southwestern Alabama, is home to an abundance of culture and history. Being the only seaport in the state of Alabama, one of its largest efforts is aluminum shipbuilding dating back all the way to World War II.
